SPECIAL MEETING
A special meeting of t--»e Borough Council was held -ay atte rnoon for uie purpose or considering Mr Hillary’s application for permission to open a new street, and also to and attend to minor details ac UlO cemetery. There were present: His Worship the Mayor (A. J. Gibbs Esq)., and Crs. Chrystall, Coley, Richmond and Whibley.
The Council first met at Mr Hillary’s property in Coley Street aud inspected the site of the proposed road. Mr Hillary proposes to put a road through his property from Coley Street to Cook Street, but is desirous that that portion of same from Coley Street to the back of his present residence should be formed and taken over by the Council and that the balance of the road should then be formed. After some discussion it was decided on the motion of Cr Coley, seconded by the Mayor, that permission asked for be granted, the whole work to be completed within twelve months. The road is to be 661 t. wide, with 10ft. lootpaths, the formation of road to be 36ft, aud iS inches at crown ; to be metalled 12ft. wide with 15 yards of metal to the chain ; drains to be piped with ißin concrete pipes. After disposing of this business the members present proceeded to the cemetery and decided upon the places in which to put the seven seats that have been procured, and also decided to trim back the trees on the ror-ds through the cemetery, to roof and paint the toolhouse, and also to have one or two other minor matters in connection with the property attended to.
