We have received the following acknowledgment, together with the official receipt, for contributions from local subscribers, forwarded to Dr Barnardo’s Homes : “Dear Sir,—lt has given me much pleasure to receive through the manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Foxton, the sum of 8s xod forwarded on your behalf, in aid of the funds of these Homes. I am grateful for this further helpful contribution to our exchequer, and beg that you will accept lor it, with the enclosed receipt, my warm thanks. “You will readily understand that the burden of maintaining a family of young people numbering between 8.000 and 9,000 is a very heavy one, and that I gladly welcome every contribution towards their support and upbringing. — Yours Faithfully, “Wm.
