At last night's Council meeting Cr Coley said that he had been accused by half-a-dozen people of appointing a ranger himselt, and he wished to deny the accusationWhen applications were called for the position none were received, and a committee, consisting of the Mayor, Town Clerk and himself, was set up by the Council with power to make an appointment. After a good deal of trouble they eventually found a man willing to accept the position and be was appointed, not by himself (Cr Coley), but by the committee. Cr Hannah asked why an advertisement was not inserted advising residents that a ranger had been appointed. The Mayor said that Ibis was unnecessary, as, in any case, it was unlawful for residents to allow their stock to be on the roads.
