At the last meeting of the Montes School Committee the resignation of Mr Doyle was accepted as a committeeman, he having left the district, and Mr Prentice was appoint..-.-; .0 ibe vacancy.

The annual school picnic is to be held on March 7th in or near the school grounds. The scholars are looking forward to an enjoyable time. Messrs Saunders Bros,, have installed a “Eureka" milking plant on their dairy farm. This machine is new to the district, but I am informed it is in great demand in the Waikato, where it is spoken very highly ot.

The recent rains have been very much appreciated by our farmers.
