SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE.
Since the inauguration in Wellington of the League the general secretary (Mr A. A. Paape) has been following out a plan of organisation .laid down by the board of control, and already branches have been established in sikty-three towns in the Dominion, principally in the provinces of Auckland, Canterbury, Nelson, Westland, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and Otago. During the present month the organising secretary will complete the work of organisation in the Auckland province. The objects for which the League is formed are : —To influence public opinion, without regard to party politics in the interests of sport, so as to enable the people to amuse themselves in future without molestation. To promote any alterations of law that may be necessary for the better protection of sports and pastimes. To lake and defend any actions that the Council may consider important as test cases. To discourage all malpractices in connection with sport, and to raise its tone wherever it is considered necessary. Generally to do whatever may from time to time seem advisable to extend the facilities for every honestly conducted sport, exercise and amusement. At the meeting to, be held in the Coronation Hall, Foxton, this evening, the general Secretary will deal fully with the aims, aspirations and policy of the League, and a large attendance of those interested is specially desired.
