TO DEFEND SPORT.
Enthusiasts have now a centre i round which they can •ally when any branch of sport u' .atened. The New Z aland Spur s Protection Teague Board of Centro* consists of five of the Dominion’s highly respected citizens who are each enthusiastic sportsmen and who have made their mark in their respective callings. Sir George Clifford, Hon Dr. Collins M.L.G., Messrs H. D. Bell K.C., C. P. Skerrett K.C. and J. H. B. Coates. The Board, with a united and ever increasing membership behind it, will be able to do much to impress upon those in authority the necessity for a hand off policy when that small but persistent band of extremists desire to cripple the reasonable enjoyment ot those whose tastes do not run parallel with their own. Sportsmen of all classes are losing no time in getting behind the Sports Protection League, by so doing they are helping to prevent further restrictions of the area of sport. The genera! secretary (Mr A. A. Paape) will fully explain the aims and policy of the League at a meeting to be held in the Coronation Hall supper rooms at 8 p.m. on Tuesday 25th. instant.
