BOWLING.

A “singles” competition has been commenced under the auspices of the local Bowling Club for a trophy, presented by Mr F. W. Hopper. Three games were played on Monday afternoon, resuiting as follows :—Walker 19, beat Stuuell 15 ; Rimmer 20, beat Harvey 12 ; Barber (1) 21, beat Petrie 13. The games yet to be played in the first round are, Whibley v. Witchell, Henuessy v. Dlemett, Speirs (2) v. Green (a\ Spring v. Adams (4). Two more games in the doubles competition were got off yesterday afternoon, Adams and Rimmer (3) [9 defeating Ross and Harvey (3) C 4, and Freeman and Clemett (6) Dealing Petrie and Stunell (scr) Dy 31 to 30.
