SUNDAY BOWLING.
(To the Kditor.)
Sir, —Will you allow me to enter a protest against the action of certain members of the local bowling club playing matches on Sunday, or allowing the green to be used on that day. Last Sunday a match was played with,, a visiting team. lam not going to enter into the ethical side of the question, but I would like to know whether Sunday play on the greeu has been authorised by the Club. If it has, then I can assure you, sir, it is against the wishes of a majority of the members, who are representative of all denominations. Surely, sir, if some of the members have no regard for the sanctity of the Sabbath they should have respect for the religious susceptibilities of other people. If Sunday play is allowed on the green it means the breaking up of the Club, because a number of enthusiastic bowlers will withdraw from membership. I hope , the committee will look into this matter and take such steps as. will make it a club offence to ' use the green on Sundays.—l am, etc.,
Fair PtAY.
