At Monday’s Council meeting a statement of receipts and expenditure of the Coronation Town Hall for the year _ ended Oct. 18th, 1912, was submitted. In connection with the statement the manager submitted the following report: — In the foregoing balance sheet, it will be noted three large payments which have considerably reduced the profits for the year s viz. Kirkland’s balance of contract 6s 6d, section purchased 2i05, Gas Works contract 8s 6d, a total of £336.15?. but for these payments the profit for the year would be 1 123 order to get at the profits of the Council’s business ventures, viz., pictures and rink, from the above amount of 12s id must be deducted the profits on the opening nights, and reals of hall and supper room, in all 3s id, , this leaves a profit of ,£369 9s for the twelve mouths. Next year, of course, the profit will be much less, as we are paying more for film hire, and music, and the prices have been reduced, for instance the music will cost as against and films are now costing about per year more. The wages sheet is higher and so on.
