CROQUET.
Considerable interest is being taken in the ladies’ croquet tournament this year, and some very exciting games in the doubles aud singles have been played. In the doubles, Misses Ross and B. Speirs are keeping well ahead of their opponents. One or two games have been won by default. The following are the results so far: — doubles. First Round.—Mrs Greig aud Miss Speirs defeated Mesdames Nye and Ross ; Misses Ross aud B. Speirs defeated Mesdames Woodward and Edwards; Mrs Adams and Miss Henuessy defeated Mesdames Witchell and Lyons; Mesdames Healey and Freeman defeated Mesdames Wood aud Edwards. Second Round. —Misses Ross aud B. Speirs defeated Mrs Adams aud Miss Heunessy ; Mrs Woodward aud Miss Edwards defeated Mesdames Wood aud Edwards. Third Round. —Misses Ross and B. Speirs defeated Mrs Greig aud Miss Speirs ; Mrs Adams and Miss Henuessy defeated Mesdames Woods aud Edwards ; Mesdames Nye aud Ross defeated Mesdames Witchell and Lyons. Fourth Round. —■ Mesdames Woods and Edwards won by default against Mrs Greig and Miss Speirs ; Misses Ross and B. Speirs defeated Mesdames Witchell and Lyons.
