MOUNTAINEERING FATALITY.
LOST IN A FOG.
InglUwood, Jan. 27
A young lady named Miss Oxenhatn was lost on Mount Egmont during a fog yesterday. An allnight search was resultless, but the body of the unfortunate girl was found this morning. New Plymouth, Jan. 27.
The young lady, Evelyn Oxenham, was 22 years of age. She had made the ascent with a young man, Eocke, when a mist came on, and they lost their bearings near the crater. The girl was already exhausted, and Eocke left her in an endeavour to recover the track. Returning, he could not find her. A search party under Guide Murphy met Eocke descending, almost distracted, but failed to find the missing lady. After three hours another party ascended, and Murphy found the body. Eife was extinct. It will be a difficult task to bring the body down, and it is hoped to do so to-morrow.
