FOXTON RACING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING,
The atiuual meeting of the Foxton Racing Club opened at the course to-day under favourable weather conditions, The class of competitors compare favourably with previous years. They include successful competitors at Taranaki, Stratford, HtiWke’s Bay, Marton, Manawatu and Waikanae holiday meetings. The Club has every reason to be proud of the response received from owners to Mr J. E. Henry’s handicaps. Since last year the Club has made several important additions to the appointments, including the enlargement of the saddling paddock. The attendance is quite up to the previous best records, and includes visitors from Wellington, Napier, New Plymouth, Wanganui and the surrounding districts. Mr George Gray, a life member of the Club, came up from Wellington. He has been a regular attendant at the Foxton meetings for nearly forty years. The course is in good order, and good times should be put up in the different events. The starting is in the hands of Mr Angus Keith, a former secretary of the Club. Mr J. R. Whyte, the President of the Club, fills the judge’s box, and his decisions should give every satisfaction. Messrs Marett and Fox, ol Napier, have charge of the totalisator department. Mr W. Gray and his assistant,, Mr Endell Wanklyn, have all details in connection with the meeting well in hand.
