THE GREAT JANSEN.
There was a good audience at the Coronation Hall last night to welcome Jansen, the great transformist, whose performances have been the source of wonder aud mystification wherever he has shown. East night Jansen quite upheld the excellent reputation as a performer in this particular line that he has built up during his previous tours, the entertainment throughout being first class and meeting with the entire sppreciation of the audience. He introduced .a number of items entirely new and exceedinly clever, including “The Phantom Princess,” in which a lady is apparently hypnotised, placed on a couch and covered with a sheet. Then at the will of Jansen everything with the exception of the couch, is made to rise in mid-air, whilst the performer runs a hoop around the floating figure, it thus appearing to the audience that supports of any kind are entirely absent. The figure remains iu the air ior a short period and then Jansen approaches aud, snatching the sheet away, discloses nothing whatever. This was the last item on the programme and the audience wended their way home racking their brains for a solution as to how the trick was accomplished. Ees, Bales, whose patter aud ragtime songs made a great hit and was repeatedly recalled. Miss Adde Montague’s song was much appreciated and she also gave a splendid exhibition of dancing. Altogether tbe entertainment was particularly good and no doubt there will be a record house tonight.
