DROWNING FATALITY.

Auckland, January 9

A sad fatality occurred at Henderson to-day, resulting iu the death of Sarah Wright, wife of W. H. White (farmer) and of Miss Reine Parkinson, a girl of 14. A party was out bathing iu Henderson Creek when Miss Harrie got into difficulties. Another of the party succeeded in pulling her out. While this was happening Miss Parkinson slipped off a shelving ledge over slippery rocks into a deep hole. Apparently Mrs Wright tried to rescue her, but also fell into the hole.

An alarm was given. Mrs Wright was pulled out, but the unfortunate woman was then dead. Miss Parkinson has not been recovered.
