THEFT OF A BICYCLE.

Motu ‘Areta, alias Malaa Kama, a native youth, was charged at the local police court yesterday afternoon, before Messrs Fraser and Ilornblow J’s.P., with the theft of a bicycle valued at the property of William Neville. The accused pleaded guilty. Constable Woods stated that the theft was committed at the Beach on Sunday. Accused was seen riding the machine in the direction of Foxtou. When arrested accused stated that he bad bought the bicycle, but subsequently stated that he had stolen it. Constable Woods stated that accused had runaway from the Weraroa Training Farm and asked that he be convicted and re-committed to the institution.

The Bench re-committed accused to the Weraroa Training Farm and ordered the stolen bicycle to be returned to its ownerIn conversation with the accused subsequently, we learned that he hails trom Kaiapoi. He said that he intended to go back to the school, but relatives iu this district had detained him. He expressed contrition for his misdeeds and promised Jo behave himself in the future.
