THE WHITE PLAGUE.
The wonderful results claimed to have been achieved in the cure of consumption by the use of the Friedman system have not escaped the attention of the Government. Already arrangements have been made by the Health Department that the High Commissioner shall furnish all the latest details concerning the merits of the system, with particulars ot the notable successes claimed lor the cure. Endeavours are also being made by the Department, through the High Commissioner, to obtain some of the culture. _ Recently it was cabled to Australia that four leading Berlin doctors had favourably commented on the system. Professor Schleich, who at first was extremely sceptical, now stales that he has seen sixty or seventy cases cured. Professor Conrad Kuster states that he has seen 500 cases under treatment, and he is convinced that the Friedman system can cure tuberculosis in the lungs and the bones, provided the disease is not too far advanced. Another medical man, Dr Karfuukel, is reported to have stated that, to his knowledge, 500 cases were cured.
