OBITUARY.
REV. FATHER COSTELLO
The death occurred at Palmerston on Saturday afternoon of the Rev Father Costello, aged 53 years. The late Father Costello was for some lime stationed at Thorndou (Wellington) parish, and also at Auckland, Westport, and Marton, prior to being appointed to Palmerston North, where he has been parish priest for about seven years. Death was due to heart failure, following on a series of attacks of iuflueuzr. He was educated at the Catholic College at Ennis, County Clare, and ordained by the Bishop of Killaloe. He came to New Zealand for the benefit of his health, and served for a time in the Auckland diocese under Bishop Luck. Then he visited South America and Ireland, and while in the latter country suffered a severe attack of fever. On recovering sufficiently he was ordered to return to New Zealand, and laboured in the various parishes already referred to. Father Costello was very popular with the young, and was noted for a simplicity of eloquence that never failed to touch the hearts of his hearers.
