MOTOR MARRIAGE.
MIDNIGHT WEDDING ON THE FOOTBOARD.
A couple who gave the names Addison Clark Angus, of Briarcliff, New York, and Elsie Brickerhoff, of Sanford, San Francisco, arrived in a highpowered motor car at the town of Fishkill shortly before midnight recently. They asked a policeman the way to the town clerk, awakened that official, and obtained a marriage license from him. Then they drove to the house of the nearest magistrate. Justice Colwell came down into the street in a dressing gown. The couple stood upright on the footboard ot the motor car while the magistrate pronounced them man and wife. Justice Colwell then kissed the bride, who observed, “Thank you ; we just wanted the most romantic marriage possible, and we have had it.” The bridegroom tossed the magistrate £2 and pulled a lever of the car, the couple then disappeared in the direction of New York.
