BOWLING.
Yesterday a team of bowlers from Otaki visited Foxtou in quest of the Toms Ferns, which were won by a local rink at Otaki at the end of last season. The team which won the trophies on that occasion was comprised of: Spring, Muuro, Walker and Kimmer. Mr Walker was unable to play yesterday aud Mr Munro has left the district and their places were taken by Whibley and Woods. Otaki started off well aud when five heads had been played the score stood, Otaki 6, Foxtou nil. From this on to the tenth head the scores evened up, and when an adjournment for afternoon tea was made Foxton was only one behind B—7.8 — 7. For the second half ot the game Otaki gradually drew away and at the conclusion the scores were : Otaki 19, Foxtou 13. The greeu, in consequence of the bad weather, did not play well and none of the players on either side displayed any real form, want of practice no doubt accounting for this. The Ferns were duly handed over by skip Rimmer at the conclusion of the game. The following were the players aud scores : Otaki. Foxton. Thomson Whibley Bright Spring Ferguson Woods Satherley (s) 19. Rimmer (s) 13. A number of other members of the club were present during the afternoon and an enjoyable time was spent. Afternoon tea, provided by Miss Ross with the assistance of other lady members of the club, was dispensed and much appreciated.
