FATAL SHOOTING ACCICENT.
RESUFT OF A MOCK DUEF
Stratford, Dec. 2
Arthur Fred Lawreuce, aged eighteen, was the victim of a fatal shooting accident at Toko on Saturday night. A circus was to have performed in the township that evening, but it failed to arrive, and Lawrence, with a number of companions, was running a mock circus in a room used as a gymnasium. A duel 'was announced between Lawrence and a boy named Corbett, aged seventeen. The boys took down two shotguns from a wall and commenced the duel. Lawrence snapped the trigger repeatedly and then Corbett responded. There was a loud report and Lawrence fell, the charge lodging in his jaw and throat. Dr. Steven was summoned, and the unfortunate lad was conveyed to the Stratford Hospital, but he died before admittance. Examination of the gun showed that both barrels had been left loaded. An inquest will be held to-day.
