OCTOBER GRADING returns.

The total number of bales of hemp graded during the mouth oi October was 8,871, as compared with 7,349 bales for the corresponding month of last year, an increase of 1,522 bales. For the twelve mouths ending 31st October, 1912, the number of bales graded was 93,041, as compared with 95,906 for the previous twelve mouths, the decrease being 2,865 bales. During the month 3,083 bales of tow were dealt with, as compared with 1,985 for the corresponding month of last year, an increase of 1,098 bales. For the twelve months ending 31st October, 1912, the number of bales graded was 26,848, as against 28,655 for the previous twelve months, the decrease being 1,807 bales. The number of bales of hemp graded at the different ports was as follows :—Foxton 3530, Wellington 3253, Auckland 1427, Bluff 299, Picton 154, Blenheim 123, Dunedin 73, Lyttelton 12. The number of bales in each grade was: — Good Port. Fins. Fair. Fair. Com.

Thirty-nine bales at Auckland, nine at Foxtou and eight at Wellington were rejected, and twelve bales at Auckland were condemned.

Stripper Sups. Five bales at Auckland, 155 at Foxtou, 166 at Wellington, 24 at Lyttelton, and 16 at Bluff were passed for shipment. Sixteen at Foxtou and eight at Wellington were condemned.
