Negotiations are in operation for the purchase of Mr Coker’s property at Moutoa. It is rumoured that a bachelor -■ living in our midst will shortly join the ranks of the benedicts. With the improvement of weather conditions, everybody and everything is looking better. Mrs Newth and Miss Fare, who have been in iudifferent health for some lime, are now on the road to recovery. Mr and Mrs jaggar contemplate a trip to the Old Country in the autumn of next year. The property recently purchased by Wbitaunui Etd., is being prepared for hemp bleaching purposes, J. Reeder, who met with an accident by falling on a flax hook which he was carrying, inflicted a deep gash in his thigh. After receiving medical attention he was removed to Fox ton. The supply of milk to the local factory is something in the neighbourhood of nine tons per day. The industry has yet to be found that will give a ‘ ‘squarer deal’ ’ to the farmer than the good old dairy cow. The accommodation which will —■ shortly be erected for the employees at Whitauuni will eclipse anything yet attempted in the way of accommodation in any mill in the Dominion. The same company is also making extensive improvements and alterations to the mill dining room. A meeting of the United Rabour Party was held in Shannon last Saturday night. The following were elected officers and commit-, tee : Messrs J. E. Barclay, president ; Bind, vice-president ; J. J. Trainer, secretary ; committee, Messrs Rev. Norman Hyde, Hudson and Hallam.
