A SERIOUS CHARGE.

Wellington Past Night. At the Supreme Court to day William Knox, tailor, was charged with performing an illegal operation. He pleaded not guilty, and was defended by Mr T. M. Wilford, instructed by Messrs Fitzgibbon and Perry, with him Mr W. Perry. Mr H. H. Ostler was the Crowm Prosecutor. His Honour the Chief Justice ordered the Court to be cleared during the hearing, and forbade the publication of the evidence. The jury failed to agree, and a rew trial will take place next Monday.
