OBITUARY.
MRS W. D. BAUCKHAM,— AGED 36 YEARS.
The “grim messenger’’ has been busy in this district of late, and Foxton has net been passed by without a touch oi his presence. On top of the drowning fatality whereby the only son of Mr Peter Robinson lost his life, came the news of the death of an erstwhile Foxton resident in the person of Mr Jas. Symons, and now it is our painful duty to record the passing of the wife of Mr W. D. Bauckham, which occurred at the district hospital at an early hour yesterday morning. For some time past deceased had not been enjoying good health, and complications of her trouble necessitated her removal to the hospital about a week ago. Before her removal very little hope was held out for her recovery, The late Mrs Bauckham was held in very high esteem by a large circle of friends both here and in Ashhurst, where she lived for many years. Mrs Bauckham came to New Zealand with her parents Mr and Mrs Crichton, when a child and most of her life was spent in Ashhurst where her parents were well known. She leaves a husband and three daughters —the eldest of whom is 16 years and the youngest four—to mourn their loss, and to these and other relatives, we extend our deepest sympathy. The remains will be interred in the Ashhurst Cemetery to-morrow.
