BREACHES OF THE LICENSING ACT.

At the local Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr A. D. Thomson, S.M., Shirley Foster, William McKenna and John Presling were charged with being found on licensed premises (Manawatu Hotel) on Sunday, October 13thEvidence was given by Constable Sweeney. Foster pleaded guilty,' and was fined 5s and costs 7s ; Paesling and McKenna did not appear, and were each fined 10s and costs 7s. A similar charge against a local resident was dismissed upon his making a satisfactory explanation to the Magistrate.

Charles Williams, charged with being found on the Family Hotel premises on the same date, did not appear, but sent a plea of guilty, and was convicted and fined 10s, with costs 7s.
