WAIHI STRIKE.

Waihi, Oct. 30. Strike matters are still unsettled. Women are taking advantage of the leniency shown by the police, and are not abating their riotous conduct. Fourteen extra hands went on at the local mines this morning, Messrs Webb and Semple, the Federation leaders, are to arrive in Waihi to-night. HUNTLY MINERS RESUME. Auckland, Oct. 29. The whole of the Huutly miners excepting the dismissed executive and about fifty who had left the district, resumed work to-day. The Taupiri coal mines directors held a conference on Monday regarding the position at the mine, and the decision of the men to resume work. No official notification of such intention had been received. The directors decided to state the conditions upon which individual workers, excepting those whose services have been dispensed with, will be employed for the time being. The hours of work will be the same as those contained in the now suspended award. The directors state definitely and clearly: (a) that they are prepared to enter into a new agreement between the company and a union registered under the Arbitration Act; (b) that they will not under any circumstances, recognise or enter into any agreement with the Labour Federation.
