PICTURE SHOW,
“Rose Kate, or the Race for Life,” is a great star drama, 3,000 feet in length, produced by the Gaumont Company. It is a story of intense interest and thrilling adventures. Another top liner, “Nemesis”— -thrilling, impressive, imparting a lesson that sinks keep into every fibre of our appreciation, and the innermost recesses of our soul; “Nemesis” tells us how that, in the present day, as in the old, a man’s wrong-doing falls on his own head. “The Wages of Sin Is Death” : this drama features Mr Maurice Costello, one of the greatest picture actors of the day, as Doctor Richard Adams. An industrial film, “Making Lead Pencils,” should prove of much interest, especially to school children. There is also in this programme, “Henley Regatta, 1912,” and a “Pathe Gazette.” Another drama is entitled, “From Fireman to Engineer.” The comedies are a really first-class lot, including, “Friscot’s New Occupation,” “The Quiet Boardinginghouse,” and “A Dash Through the Clouds” ; the latter is a farce comedy, with an aeroplane as the centre figure. This will show how Martha becomes fascinated with the sport of aeroplane riding, and gives up her sweetheart, Arthur, because she is infatuated with the aviator. Some time later Arthur’s life is in danger at the hands of Mexicans, and this is where Martha and her driver shine, for with the aeroplane they dash to the rescue.
