DECLARED OFF BY “SENIOR

LABOUR LEADER.”

Waihi Oct. 26

The following notice, under the heading, “The Waihi Strike,” was published here to-day by Thomas Carless (Ngaruawahia), who signs himself “Senior Labour Leader ot New Zealand” : “Fellow-workers, I have informed your strike committee that I intend to declare the Waihi miners’ strike off, and miners are honourably released.”

Carless resided in Waihi some years ago. In a coveiing letter he says ; —“ln taking upon myselt the great responsibility of declaring your strike off, you may be sure it was only after a long and careful consideration that I concluded to take this step. No wise leader will advise a continuance of the-strike. it will be the duty of future labour leaders to discard the strike,’ ’
