TEACHERS’ PROMOTION.

School teachers will be interested in the following motions passed by the Wanganui Education Board :

On the motion of Mr Pirani and Mr Bennett: “That in allotting the marks in the teachers’ promotion list in the future, one mark be awarded for each two years’ service up to twenty years, thirty-five marks for maximum of teaching ability, and fifteen marks for maximum of educational attainments.” On the motion of the chairman and Mr Purnell; “That in addition to the existing grading list the inspectors be asked to prepare lists showing the order for promotion of every teacher suitable for charge of a school of each grade, and also one showing the teachers especially suitable for infant work.”

On the motion ot the chairman and Mr Bennett; “That in allotting marks in the promotion list the inspectors reduce marks already allotted in individual cases where they consider necessary.”
