MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The ordinary monthly meeting ol the Moutoa Drainage Board was held in the Board's office last night. Present: —Messrs Gower (chairman), Robinson, and Carter. The Clerk reported the amount to credit of Doan Account at 12s Qd and general account 6s 4d. Since last meetiug 14s 5d had been placed to credit on account ot rates, leaving ns 9d yet unpaid. Wages, amounting to £25 16s 9d were paid on September 28th. Accounts amounting to IQS 8d against loan account and £2 12s against general account were passed for payment. The overseer reported that since last meeting about ten chains of new drain had been completed leaving about chains yet to be dune. Dredging was stopped for six days on account ot the flooded state 01 the swamp. The surface water had now disappeared and it was hoped to make good progress to the end. Everything in connection with the dredge is in good working order. The Clerk reported the result of conference with Mr Signal respecting transport of crane down drain by punt, and that the charge would be ten shillings per day.—lt was decided that further consideration of this matter be left for a full meeeting. The Chairman stated that he had provisionally arranged to pay the crane driver full time until the completion of i he work. His action was endorsed. Other minor matters were discussed and the meeting terminated.
