MANAWATU ROWING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of the Manawatu Rowing Club was held iu the Coronation Hall supper room on Thursday evening. The president, Mr B. G. Gower, occupied the chair and there were 16 or 17 members present. The Chairman in opening the meeting, expressed 1 egret that during the past year no interest whatever had been taken iu the Club and hoped that members during the ensuing season would display that enthusiasm which was necessary if the Club was to be a success. The Club’s books had unfortunately been destroyed by the recent fire and it was therefore impossible to submit a balance-sheet. The liabilities amounted to about The following officers were elected : —President, Mr B. G. Gower; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Healey and A. H. Boyes; secretary, Mr R. Dixon ; treasurer, Mr L. Freeman ; captain, Mr H. McKeguey ; vice-captain. Mr R. Ashmore; committee, Messrs J. Gillespie, K. Furrie and A. McCall; auditors, Messrs F. D. Whibley and Lyons. It was decided to register the Club under the Unclassified Societies Act.
A motion by Dr- Adams and seconded by Mr Whibley that the annual subscription be reduced from is to ros 6d was lost. The selection of a day for the official opening was left to the Committee to arrange.
