OBITUARY.

MRS ROSE HILDA THORP—

AGED 36 YEARS

It is our painful duty to record the passing of the wife of Mr J. H. Thorp, librarian, which took place on Tuesday night, after a very brief illness. Deceased was in her usual health on Monday and her sudden demise came as a great shock to her husband and friends. Internal complications set in on Monday night and despite all that medical skill could devise, proved fatal. The late Mrs Thorp was a comparatively young woman, being only 36 years of age. She was born in Deeds, Yorkshire, and was married in the same city eleven years ago. She arrived in New Zealand with Mr Thorp nearly seven years ago and settled in Foxton, where, with her husband, she had charge of the public library. In the discharge of her public duties she was ever pleasant and courteous and held in the highest esteem by the Council and public. It is worthy of note that during the period of her control of the institution not one complaint has been lodged with the Council., The deepest sympathy of the Council and townspeople are extended to the bereaved husband who is left to mourn the loss of a loving wife and faithful helpmeet. The funeral will leave the Council Chambers for the Foxton Cemetery at 2.30 p.m. on Friday.
