A SAD FATALITY.

THREE CHILDREN DROWNED.

Auckland. September 22,

A sad ace. occurred at Paeroa , thro* children of Edward Shaw being diowned. It appears tour children, Maty Shaw, aged 14, Kenneth Shaw (12) Jack Shaw (7), and Fort Moresby (14), were out on the river in a small boat with the sail up, when the wind caught the sail and overturned the boat.

A Maori boy saw the accident and told Shaw, who was quickly at the scene, and rescued Moresby, who was hanging on to the bottom of the boat. The other three children went down.

Only one body had been recovered. A large party under a constable are at present engaged in dragging tue river.
