CAMPAIGN FOR REDUCTION
Invercargill, Sept. 12
The United Temperance Reform Council, together with delegates from the Awarua and Wallace electorates, met in conference to-day with Mr Wesley Spragg and the Rev. J. Dawson, president and secretary respectively of the New Zealand Alliance, who explained that the Alliance were seeking through the vaiious temperance organisations to secure pledges from 1500 to 3000 electors in each constituency not to vote £Ol any candidate for any Parliament who would not promise lo support the simple majority, or at least a material reduction ot the present handicap. The Alliance could get nothing further from the past or present Parliaments ana decisive steps would have to be taken it its object was to be achieved.
The Conference unanimously agreed with the principle of the Alliance proposals.
