SOCIAL AND CONCERT.
Another very successful concert and social was held in All Saints’ schoolroom on Tuesday night. The programme, which was the work of Mr R. T. Betty, even surpassed that of a month ago. The first item was a glee, “Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond,’’ this being followed by a song given by Mr Johnston, a new singer to Foxton. Mr Johnston has a pleasing voice, and rendered his song well. Miss Millie King was enthusiastically encored, and Mr A. Rimmer was in his best form, and much appreciated. Miss Signal gave her song with artistic grace, and Mrs Freeman’s contributions were loudly encored.| Mrs Guilder rendered exquisitely the beautiful and pathetic song, “Daddy.” The humorous part of the programme was supplied by Mr Vates, who appeared to be iu particularly good spirits, and made a’great hit. One of the attractions was the fencing match, a duel between Mr Longworth and Mr Johnston. Both men were well trained, and the bout was most exciting. , The snapping of Mr Johnston’s rapier ended only 100 soon a most interesting battleAfter supper, Mr Simmons gave a violin solo, accompanied by Mr S. B. Collins, and was loudly applauded. Miss Macdonald was decidedly good iu her two songs. Song' followed by Messrs Collins, Hr' gtou and Cook, all these s' i being brought back to the nidst great applause. Mr W. Cook’s rich voice was heard to great advantage in his rendering of.“Thora.” Miss Jeuks and Mrs Wrigley played the accompaniments. The singing ol the National Anthem closed a very pleasant evening.
