THE BEQUESTS
The late Mr Macarthy leaves the following bequests : Mrs Charlotte Noah, Eondou, uiece, £ 5,000 ; Annie Tottroan, her sister, ,£5,000; Edith, daughter of Samuel Gilmer, ,£I,OOO ; Geraldine and Kathleen Henry, daughter of the late Dr Henry, ,£I,OOO each ; Mother Mary Aubert, ,£x,ooo for her charitable institutions ; Mrs Batkin, ,£I,OOO ; to charitable institutions of Geelong, ,£I,OOO ; to his wife, an annuity of ,£1,200 ; sister-in-law ,£3OO ; mother-in-law, ,£100; S. Carter, ,£l3O. and to his widow after ; to his wife, all furniture and effects, jewellery, etc., and two houses in Boulcott street, the proceeds from which are to be continued to the husband and children if the widow remarries.
The residue of the estate is entrusted to the Public Trustee, who is to pay one half of the anuual income to Mrs Macarthy, and after to her husband and children. The other half is to be applied to educational and charitable purposes in the province of Wellington. The Public Trustee is to pay the income to a board o! trustees, who will have the distribution thereof. The testator declared by his will that he hoped to execute a further will, giving details as to these charitable bequests, but if he failed to do so the board is to have absolute discretion. The Public Trustee is giveu wide powers for the management of the property. It is also provided that after Mrs Macanhy’s death the capital of her halt ;>hall follow the destination of the residue.
