FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.

The following report will be submitted to members of the Foxton Bowling Club at the annual meeting, to be held on Monday evening next: — Your committee have pleasure in submitting the accounts of the past year for your consideration. Your assets stand at ,£557 4s, liabilities 14s 6d, thus leaving a surplus of assets over liabilities ol 9s 6d. The year was unfavourable from a weather point of view, the opening day being postponed several times, otherwise the Club can congratulate itself on a good season. The tournaments on both the bowling green and croquet lawn gave cause for keen competition, and it is to be hoped that this club play will be encouraged. Unfortunately, owing to the bad weather experienced in the spring, only one croquet court was available, but it is hoped they will both be in good order when we re open. The Toms Ferns, which were won on Ist January, have been in the Club’s possession ever since, bar a slight break when they were held by Otaki. Under the able cate oi your caretaker, Mr Spring, the green has given every satistaction, and your committee wish to express their great appreciation of the way the grounds have been kept. These are now fast becoming a beauty spot, of which you may well be proud, and your committee trust Mr Spring’s efforts will receive some more tangible mark of appreciation at your hands. During the year, your property has been much improved by the erection of a pavilion, due to the efforts ol your ladies’ committee, who inaugurated and carried out a most successful carnival. You are also indebted to your many lady members for so kindly providing afternoon tea. Next season it is suggested you hold a tournament, gaslight or otherwise. In conclusion, your committee wish to thank all those who have so kindly contributed towards the welfare of the Club by way of trophies, etc., and wish you a most successful season.
