PRISONERS ESCAPE.

- BOLT FROM POINT HALSWELL.

Point Halswell, the prison camp across the Wellington Harbour, was the scene of considerable excitement on Thursday afternoon, when two prisoners undergoing short sentences escaped from custody almost simultaneously, aud have not yet been recaptured. The men are Andrew Bergerson and George Paul, alias Herbert Bartlett, alias Funnell. Both prisoners had only been at point Halswell for a few days, having been sentenced at the Supreme Court, Wellington, last week.

Paul is aged twenty years, bailing from Himatangi.
