HOCKEY AT MOUTOA.

(To the Editor)

Sir. —Being a resident of Moutoa, and not one that could be justly called a heathen, I would like to ask T. Coatsworlh why he should go out of his way to condemn our quiet Sunday afternoon game of hockey. He says we have six days in which to play, but in that he is mistaken. For, unlike him, we are engaged in honest toil during the six. That being the case, we are surely at liberty to spend the seventh in whatever innocent pastime we deem fit. Personally, I consider that it is much better for the mind aud body if we are romping about iu God’s pure air and sunshine, than to be in church and fall asleep listening to a dry-asdusl sermon. If T. Coatsworth is really sincere in his desire to elevate the moral tone of the people, he has no occasion to begin his labours in Moutoa. For although they indulge in a little pleasure on what he calls the Lord’s day, they are equally as good Christians as himself or any of his small flock. If he will go about his own parish with his eyes open (aud not lend his ear to idle gossip concerning this place) he will find plenty of work to do in the direction he desires. In conclusion I would like to draw my friend’s attention to the report of the hockey match in your paper, so that he may ease his conscience by the knowledge that we are not afraid o! its publicity. Hoping you will find a place lor this in your valuable paper.—I am, etc.

A Prayer Moutoa, August 17th, 19x2.
