FLOOD FATALITIES.

Masterton, July 18. Two men were drowned in the floods in different parts of Lower Wairarapa on Tuesday. One named Brodersen, lost his life while crossing Abbott’s Creek on horseback. Another, Henry Fletcher, Was drowned at Pukio while crossing a swollen stream. Brodersen’s body was recovered to-day. The body of Fletcher was found in the Whakawiriwiri Creek, at Elgar’s station, Lower Valley, some distance from where the fatality occurred. Deceased was aged 30 years, and was born at Cambridge, Waikato, where his father resides. He had been married only thirteen months. At about four o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Andrew Brodersen left his home, near Burt’s gardens, Featherston, to drive some cows to a paddock some distance away. He was on horseback, and in crossing Abbott’s Creek, which had overflowed its banks, he was washed off the horse and drowned.
