COOK STREET EXTENSION.
At last night’s Council meeting, Mr C. j. Woods, of Cook Street Extension, wrote drawing attention to the fact that on April 10th of last year Mr xMoore, on behalf ot Mr George Coley, wrote the Council offering to enter into a bond to form and metal the extension of Cook Street to the satisfaction ot the Council, if that body would take over the street, and turther that ou April 24th the Council did agree to lake over the street, the understanding then being that the forming and metalling was to be completed within nine mouths. Fourteen months had now passed and nothing • had been done.
The Mayor explained that Mr Coley could not get his deeds registered until the street was shown to have been formed and metalled, and in order to expedite matters he had offered to enter into a bond to carry this work out if the Council would formally take over the street, Tue agreement was that the road was to be completed according to conditions to be laid down by the Council. At the time the work was not urgent, and these conditions had not yet been laid down. He suggested that the Public Works Committee should meet for this purpose. It was decided that the Public Works Committee should meet on the ground on Wednesday, the 24th instant, at 10.30 a.m., and decide conditions as to the formation and metalling of the road in question.
