WEDDING BELLS.
DONALDSON—COLEY
The above wedding created a good deal of local interest last week. Both the contracting parties are well and favourably known throughout the district. The briee, Miss Jessie May, is the third daughter ot Mr Geo. Coley, one of Foxton’s best-known public men, and the bridegroom, Mr John Donaldson, is the second son ot Mr Samuel Donaldson, a wellknown and highly respected Rangiotu settler. The ceremony took place iu All Saints’ Church, the vicar, Rev G. Y. Woodward, being the officiating minister. The bride was given away by her brother, and was charmingly attired in cream silk crepe de chine, and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a pretty shower bouquet. She was attended by her sister, Miss Nellie Coley, as bridesmaid, who was becomingly attired in a pretty dress of grey material and black hat. She also carried a pretty bouquet. Mr Thomas Donaldson, brother of the bridegroom, officiated as best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a handsome gold brooch, and to the bridesmaid a pretty gold cable bangle. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a silver shaving mug and brush. After the ceremony a reception was held at Mr M. Perreau’s tea rooms, when the usual toasts were honoured. “The Bride and Bridegroom” was proposed by the Rev Mr Woodward ; the “Bridesmaid,” by Mr J. Chrystall, responded to by Mr Thos. Donaldson ; the “Bride’s Parents,” by Mr G. Wilton, to which Mr J. Tennant suitably responded ; the “Bridegroom’s Parents,” by Mr Lucas. The Rev Mr Woodward proposed the toast of the Press, responded to by Mr H. Witchell.
The bride’s travelling dress was a pretty brown costume, with hat to match. The happy couple were motored to Palmerston N., en route to Wellington, where the honeymoon is being spent, Mr and Mrs Donaldson’s future home will be at Rangiotu, Mr and Mrs Donaldson were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents.
