AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.

A meeting 01 the Manawatu Automobile Association was held in Messrs Abraham and Williams’ board room, Palmerston, on Friday afternoon, to receive the repon of delegates to the recent Automobile Conference, to consider rules and transact other business. Mr R. S. Araham presided over an attendance of about twenty members.

The Chairman reported that Mr Toxward and himselt had attended the conference iu Wellington on May 29th. It was resolved to form a New Zealand Union, on the lines of the Royal Automobile Association- ol Great Britain. A committee was appointed to drati rules to subrm. ro the various Associations, and these would be considered again at a later conference.

In reply to a question, the chairman stated that one of the objects of the new body was to have licenses issued to drivers. He further stated that it was desired that uo licenses be issued to persons under 16 years of age. The Association wished to see careful and considerate driving by motorists, proper observance ot the rule of the road, and the lighting ol ail vehicles alter dark.

it was suggested that the district to be controlled by the xMauawatu Automobile Association should extend from Martou to Otaki.

After some eonsideiatiou of the rules, it was resolved that they be referred to a committee composed of the chairman and Messrs W. A. Keiiler, J. H. P. Strang, C. Louisson, Sutherland, and W. M. Bayly, who will report to a future meeting of the Association. This committee is also to discuss the draft rules of the ceutral body and prepare any remits cousidered desirable.
