MOUTOA NOTES.

(Own Correspondent)

A most enjoyable evening was spent in Dr. Walls’ Hall last evening, when a kitchen and tea party was given by Mesdames Doyle and Hall to Miss Elsie Newth, in honour of her approaching marriage. Games and dancing were the chiel attractions. During the evening songs were given by Miss May Fair, Miss Bessie McDonald, Mrs G. R. Hall and Mr Yates. Mrs Hall and Miss McDonald also sang a duet, “Spring and Dove.” The presents, which were numerous and useful, were presented to Miss Newth and Mr Hillman by Mr A. Yates. Mr Hillman, in a few well chosen words, thanked all present for their kindness and generosity. Alter supper, provided by the ladies, had been served, dancing was again indulged in. The music was supplied by Messrs Walden and Prentice. The latter also contributed a violin solo. An instrumental duet, “Killarney’’ violin and accordeon, was much appreciated. Extras were supplied by Mrs Easton, Misses Bovve, and McDonald. Mr Joe Smith officiated as M.C. Despite the inclement weather the hall was crowded with visitors Irom Foxton, Shannon and Moutoa. After a vole of thanks was accorded to Mr Doyle for the use of the hall, a very pleasant evening was brought to a close. Two ladies hockey clubs are being formed in Moutoa, the Moutoa and Marotari.
