OBITUARY.
Mr T. Henderson received a telegram yesterday morning, Irom Greymouth, conveying the sad news that his youngest daughter (Agues Moocie), Mrs William Cassidy, had met her death as the result ot an accident last Sunday at Paroa, about lour miles from Greymouth, and that her interrment would take place to-day. The only further details Mr Henderson has been able to glean are from a press message, which stated that “Margaret Cassidy, a young married woman, residing near Paroa, was found dead last night, having fallen into a fireplace on Sunday night in a laintiug fit. Her husband, Patrick Cassidy, has been away since February. Two children, aged six and two years, were found in bed. Deceased was the daughter ot Mr Spiers, ol F'oxlou, ana was well respected here. mere are no suspicious circumstances. An mquest will be held tnis altcruoou.”
A later press message stated that an inquest was held, and the evidence showed that deceased evidently fainted and fell into a fire. A verdict of death from suffocation was returned. Mr Henderson is at a loss to understand the delay in receiving the message, and also the incorrect statements which appeared in the press touching his daughter’s Christian name and parentage. Upon receiving the sad news, which came as a cruel blow to the family, he immediately communicated with the authorities at Greymouth, but so far has not received any lurther details. The late Mrs Cassidy was in her twenty- third year, and leaves two children, a daughter five years old and a boy in his second year.
Mr and Mrs Henderson will have the sympathy of a large circle ot friends in the trouble that has come upon them.
