THE FOXTON ENCAMPMENT.
The Mounted Territorials will go into camp on the racecourse tomorrow, and will remain there until the 29th instant. It is understood that there will be .500 men ip camp.
The tents and all the necessary gear for the encampment has arrived from Wellington and a number of men have been employed since Saturday erecting same and getting the ground ready. The Rev A. Doull, of Palmerston, will arrive in Foxton tonight and will visit the camp in the capacity of Chaplain from Wednesday to Saturday. He will also be iu charge of the marquee set aside by the Presbyterian Church for the use of the territorials as a reading room and music pavilion. The Rev G. Budd, of Feilding, will also be iu attendance to assist Mr Doull. Next week the Revs. J. M. Thomson and J. McKenzie will take charge of the tent. A meeting is to be held in the Presbyterian Hall to-night to arrange for a concert to be held at the camp. The catering for those in camp has been let to Mr Devine, of Palmerston North, who will also have charge of the canteen. Practically all the tents have now been erected and everything is m readiness lor the arrival ot the men. An engine and dynamo has been installed and the marquees, etc,, will be lighted by electricity. Arrangements have been made for a plentiful supply of water and pipes have been laid right through the lines.
