BOWLING.
Keen interest in bowling is still maintained notwithstanding the lateness of the season. The Toms Ferns, which were won by a junior team on New Year’s day, are still held in Foxton and are likely to remain here till the end of the season. A very interesting game was played for these Ferns yesterday, but the holders succeeded in retaining possession of same. The teams and scores were as under ; HOLDERS. CHALLENGERS. Whibley Spring Woods Speirs Barber Muuro Ciemett (s) 23 Walker (s) 16 The holders are not to be allowed to retain the trophies without defending their rights, a challenge having already been received for next Wednesday,' from a rink to be skipped by Spring. This game should create a good deal of interest, but the challenging team will have to be something out of the ordinary to get possession of the coveted trophies as the holders are a very strong combination.
