INSTALLATION OF MAYOR.

At last night’s Council meeting, Mr Geo. H. Stiles was installed into the position of, Mayor of the Borough of Foxton for the fourth year in succession.

The Mayor said it gave him great pleasure to again occupy the office for a fourth term, more especially when he remembered it was by the unanimous wish of the Council that he should do so. He thauked the Councillors for their assistance in the conduct of the meetings, which had made the office a very pleasant one. The year that had gone had been one of much success and progress, and although the one entered upon was not expected to be of such importance, he trusted they would all work together in the interest of the borough. He then made the statutory declaration and took his seal.

Cr Oreig, congratulated Mr Stiles upon his re-election. By his being ic-elected unopposed it showed that the ratepayers were perfectly satisfied with his work in the past. He felt sure they couldn’t get anyone to act with more consideration and courtesy towards the councillors, or with more loyalty to the Borough, than Mr Stiles.
