LEVIN-GREATFORO RAILWAY.

At a meeting of the Marton Chamber of Commerce held on Friday evening a letter was read from Mr Edward Newman, M.P., stating that as the subject of light railway construction is likely to come before Cabinet shortly he suggested that it would be a suitable time to renew agitation to construct the line connecting the Saudou tram with Marton.

The meeting held a similar view and it was resolved that the Chamber promote a deputation consisting of the various Local Bodies interested to meet the Hon. Myers, Minister for Railways, with reference to the proposed railway connection between Levin ane Marton via Foxton. It was further decided to motor the Minister over the proposed route and owners of land are to be asked to assist.

Mr R. B. McKenzie, who was appointed by a previous meeting of delegates is to be asked if he will be good enough to call a meetlngat an early date to discuss and decide a final plau 'ot action before meeting the Minister. Appreciation of Mr Newman’s suggestion was recorded.
