FOOTBALL.
The first match for the championship will take place on the racecourse on Saturday, when the local fifteen will meet the LevinWanderers. As Foxton put up such a splendid fight for the championship last year, it is hoped that all players will get in training and bring the honours here this year. All those taking part in the game on Saturday are requested to be on the ground at 2 o’clock sharp. Mr J. Desmond has been appointed to control the game.
The following team has been selected to do battle for LevinWanderers against Foxton on the racecourse on Saturday next:Full back, Hanna ; three-quarters, T. Winiata, Lester, Close ; fiveeights, N. Winiata, Heta ; half, Thurston ; wing, Arcus; forwards, Sciascia (2), W. Winiata, Dixon (2), Dalziell, and Hall. Emergencies; Backs, M. and Neville Winiata. Forwards, Gascoigne and Saxon.
